Raquel Lyra declares neutrality for presidential runoff

Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra has announced her intention to remain neutral during the second round of the presidential election. Despite being approached by representatives of both President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, Lyra stated that her priority remains the governance of Pernambuco and that she will not recommend a specific candidate to voters.

Lyra also addressed judicial matters, stating that while she supports discussions regarding changes to the Judiciary—such as term limits for Supreme Court (STF) ministers—these debates should not be part of the electoral campaign. She emphasized that any impeachment processes must follow legal due process.

In her first public agenda following re-election, Lyra also visited several healthcare facilities in Recife. She inspected ongoing works and completed renovations at the Hospital da Restauração and the Hospital Agamenon Magalhães. At the Hospital da Restauração, investments exceeding R$ 150 million have been directed toward modernizing the adult ICU, which now includes features like individual video monitoring and hemodialysis points at all beds.
