Raquel Sanz, widow of torero Víctor Barrio, gives birth to son Álvaro

Journalist Raquel Sanz announced the birth of her first child, a son named Álvaro, on 6 July 2026. The birth was shared on her social‑media accounts, where she expressed gratitude for the new life and marked the occasion with her partner Rodrigo Nieto, a city councilor for the Partido Popular in Valladolid.

Sanz, 42, is the widow of celebrated bullfighter Víctor Barrio, who died in a bullring accident on 9 July 2016. She noted that the baby arrived just after the tenth anniversary of Barrio’s death, adding a hopeful note to what had been a period of public remembrance.

The couple described their new routine of watching the San Fermín running of the bulls on television and enjoying nightly celebrations, while also acknowledging the challenges of sleepless nights.
