Rare 12-kilogram ceylan fish caught in the Mediterranean
Fishermen in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Mersin have caught a rare ceylan fish measuring approximately 1.5 meters in length and weighing 12 kilograms. While these fish typically range from 50 grams to 1.5 kilograms, this specimen is exceptionally large.
Adnan Polat, President of the Mersin Fishermen's Association, noted that such a large fish has not been seen in the region for five years. He suggested that recent stormy weather may have driven the fish from the Atlantic Ocean through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean. The fish is being sold at a market in Mersin for 700 TL per kilogram.
