Rare Autoimmune and Granulomatous Disease Cases Reported

A 26‑year‑old South African cabin crew member was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus that presented with pseudo‑pseudo Meigs syndrome, a rare combination of pleural effusion, ascites and an elevated CA‑125 level. Extensive testing excluded malignancy and the condition resolved with standard lupus therapy.

A separate case involved a 37‑year‑old African American woman in the United States who presented with persistent dry cough, fatigue, cervical and axillary lymphadenopathy and pretibial erythema nodosum. Work‑up confirmed sarcoidosis, highlighting the variable and often atypical manifestations of the granulomatous disease.
