Rareș Cojoc and Andreea Matei win German Open Championship

Romanian ballroom dancers Rareș Cojoc and Andreea Matei have won the German Open Championship (GOC) for the second consecutive year. The duo dominated the GOC Grand Prix Standard final held at the Liederhalle in Stuttgart, winning all five dances: slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep.

Competing against 182 pairs, the Romanian team secured the top spot on the podium. The second-place position was taken by the Chinese pair Shaoyang Yuan and Chongxuan Qi, while the bronze medal went to the Polish pair Dariusz Mycka and Madara Freiberga.

This victory marks the seventh Grand Slam title of Cojoc’s career. The pair’s recent successful season also includes wins at the Grand Prix events in Blackpool, Nanjing, and Stuttgart, as well as titles as European and World Champions.
