Ras al-Ahmar Bedouin community faces siege in West Bank
The Ras al-Ahmar Bedouin community in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to a two-week-long Israeli siege. Since mid-September, Israeli forces have been constructing a barrier through Palestinian land, including military roads, trenches, and embankments, which has blocked access to the village.
Residents report that movement is severely restricted, forcing them to transport essential supplies like water, fodder, and milk via donkeys under the cover of darkness to avoid detection. Saeed Ayed, a local resident, stated that no water has entered the community for three days and expressed fear that the community’s 15,000 head of livestock will perish without food and water.
The village, home to approximately 50 families and 300 people, has also faced increased settler violence. Ayed reported frequent incidents of livestock theft, vandalism, and physical attacks on residents, alleging these actions are part of an effort to force the community off their land.
