Raseiniai district mayoral race: TS-LKD confirms candidate

Political maneuvering for the 2027 municipal elections in the Raseiniai district has begun to take shape. The Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) have confirmed Andrius Baurtonis as their candidate for the mayoral post.

Baurtonis stated that his decision to run was motivated by a sincere concern for the Raseiniai region and its residents rather than a desire for title or office. He noted that his previous political experience, including both victories and defeats, has provided him with a deeper understanding of the responsibilities involved in local leadership.

Other candidates have also emerged for the upcoming elections. The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) has nominated the current mayor, Arvydas Nekrošius. Additionally, there is political speculation regarding the Social Democratic Party, with current Member of Parliament Matas Skamarakas being mentioned as a potential candidate, though his candidacy has not yet been officially confirmed.
