Rashawn Slater to miss several weeks with high ankle sprain

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater has suffered a high ankle sprain, which is expected to sideline him for several weeks. The injury, described as a high ankle syndesmosis sprain, was confirmed following tests after Slater left a game in Seattle on crutches.

Slater, who signed a record-breaking four-year, $118 million extension in July 2025, faces further setbacks in a career previously impacted by patellar and biceps tendon injuries. His absence adds significant pressure to an already struggling Chargers offensive line, which has struggled to protect quarterback Justin Herbert.

The team is also dealing with injuries to other key linemen, including Joe Alt, who missed the Week 4 matchup against the Seahawks due to a neck injury. The Chargers currently hold an 0-4 record, and the loss of their starting left tackle complicates their efforts to stabilize the offensive line.
