Rashmika Mandanna honors M. S. Subbulakshmi at biopic launch

Actor Rashmika Mandanna is preparing to portray legendary Carnatic vocalist M. S. Subbulakshmi in the upcoming biopic, ‘M. S. – A Legacy On Screen’. During the film’s launch events in Chennai, Mandanna utilized traditional attire to pay tribute to the singer’s iconic visual identity.

At one event, Mandanna wore an ‘MS Blue’ Kanjivaram sari, a deep shade of blue famously associated with Subbulakshmi. The specific color, often referred to as ‘MS Blue’, became linked to the singer through her preference for Kanchipuram silk saris in that hue. Another appearance featured a purple and orange Kanchipuram silk sari from the Hyderabad-based label Sutrani, paired with a Banarasi mashru blouse and traditional gold jewelry.

Mandanna’s styling, which included jasmine flowers, gold hair accessories, and a red bindi, was designed to echo the dignified and classic aesthetic maintained by Subbulakshmi during her performances.
