The biopic ‘M. S. – A Legacy On Screen’, centered on the life of legendary Carnatic vocalist M. S. Subbulakshmi, has officially launched in Chennai. The event, held on the 110th birth anniversary of the Bharat Ratna awardee, featured actor and parliamentarian Kamal Haasan as the chief guest.

Actress Rashmika Mandanna will portray the iconic singer. Mandanna described the opportunity as an ‘absolute honour’, while Kamal Haasan referred to Subbulakshmi as ‘India’s pan-Indian lady superstar’, noting the challenge of capturing her unique compassion and presence.

The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Production is a joint effort by Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertainment, and Bunny Vas Works. The project aims to chronicle the journey of the musician who was the first Indian to perform at the United Nations General Assembly and the first musician to receive India’s highest civilian honour.
