Rashod Bateman faces criminal charges following Georgia arrest

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman is facing criminal charges following an incident in Georgia this past June. Bateman was arrested in Walton County and faces one felony charge for first-degree criminal damage to property, along with two misdemeanors: family violence battery and reckless conduct.

According to court documents and arrest warrants, the incident occurred in the early morning of June 3. It is alleged that Bateman used an object to smash the windshield and driver-side window of a vehicle driven by the mother of his child. The victim reportedly sustained multiple facial lacerations and contusions from the shattered glass. A three-month-old child was present in the vehicle during the incident.

Bateman turned himself in to authorities the same day of the arrest. His attorney, Jordan Siev, stated that the situation has been “taken completely out of context for sensational reasons” and noted that a no-contact order was later modified to a “no violent contact” order after the victim indicated she wished to have contact with him.

The Baltimore Ravens confirmed they are aware of the situation, have been in communication with Bateman, and have notified the NFL. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy stated that the league is currently reviewing the case. Bateman could face suspension under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
