Rashtrapati Bhavan Cancels August Change of Guard Ceremonies for Independence Day Rehearsals

The Change of Guard ceremony scheduled for 1 August and 8 August 2026 at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan has been cancelled. A press release from the presidential residence said the cancellation is necessary to allow uninterrupted rehearsals for the forthcoming Independence Day ceremony later in 2026.

The ceremony, a 30‑minute military tradition dating back to ancient practices, is normally held every Saturday and showcases the formal transfer of duty between the Ceremonial Army Guard Battalion and the President of India.
