Rashtriya Hindu Veer Sena chief Satyam Pandit defends assault on student protesters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar
On July 24, 2026, Satyam Pandit, the self‑styled chief of the Rashtriya Hindu Veer Sena, attacked two young activists of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. A video showing Pandit harassing, slapping and verbally abusing the protesters went viral on social media. Pandit later claimed the youths were “anti‑national” and were raising slogans against Hindu deities, saying, “If you want to file an FIR, do it.”
The incident sparked political backlash. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav shared the footage and demanded the arrest of the assailant, describing the act as a betrayal by the ruling alliance. AAP politicians also condemned the violence and a formal complaint was filed with Delhi police. Police said they had intervened after the assault, but the video suggests the attackers acted with impunity.
The episode highlights rising tensions around dissent in India and the use of vigilante‑style violence by right‑wing groups against protestors.
