Rasika Dugal discusses patriarchy and challenges for women in film

Actor Rasika Dugal has addressed the challenges faced by women in the film industry, specifically regarding patriarchal societal expectations and financial support for female-centric projects.

Dugal noted that society frequently focuses on women’s physicality, describing the pressure to maintain a specific appearance as a reflection of patriarchal thinking. She emphasized the need for greater mindfulness regarding how women's bodies are discussed in everyday conversation.

Regarding the film industry, Dugal stated that while she receives many scripts featuring strong female leads, these projects often struggle to secure producers or face difficulties with distribution. Additionally, she expressed reservations about the role of artificial intelligence in screenwriting, suggesting it should only serve as a supporting tool rather than a primary creative force.

Dugal is currently appearing in ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, which has seen significant domestic box office success since its release.
