Buffalo Sabres defeat Florida Panthers 5-3 amid key injuries

The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Florida Panthers 5-3 on Monday, but the victory was overshadowed by injuries to key players on both sides. Sabres captain and star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin scored a power-play goal in the first period before exiting the game early in the second due to an upper-body injury. Coach Lindy Ruff described Dahlin as day-to-day, noting he would not travel with the team for their upcoming road trip.

The Panthers also lost starting goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who did not return after the first period. He was replaced by Akira Schmid. Florida coach Paul Maurice downplayed the severity of Markstrom's situation, stating, “There's no injury there.”

Noah Ostlund secured the win for Buffalo with a go-ahead power-play goal in the third period. Other Sabres scorers included Josh Doan, Tage Thompson, and Ryan McLeod. Sam Reinhart scored twice for the Panthers, while Anton Lundell also found the net.
