Raspberry Pi launches Programming Jig for Compute Module 5

Raspberry Pi has launched the Compute Module 5 Programming Jig, a specialized provisioning system designed to simplify the programming and testing of the Compute Module 5 (CM5). Because the CM5 is a compact module intended for integration into other devices rather than a standalone computer with standard ports, it requires specific hardware to interface with software and operating systems.

The Programming Jig utilizes a mechanical clamping mechanism and pogo pins to connect to the module. It features dual Gigabit Ethernet ports—one for the jig's network connection and one for the CM5—as well as Wi-Fi capabilities and a USB-C boot connector. This tool is intended to streamline the development cycle for industrial and professional users by allowing them to flash operating systems, perform secure boot implementations, and manage full disk encryption without needing a custom carrier board.

Developers can automate workflows using the open-source rpi-sb-provisioner software. The jig also supports Raspberry Pi Connect for remote screen sharing and SSH access, making it a more accessible solution for prototyping and small-scale production in embedded systems and IoT applications.
