Rastriya Swatantra Party convenes all-party meeting for Bhotekoshi flood relief

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is coordinating a high-level all-party meeting to address the crisis caused by the devastating Bhotekoshi flood that occurred on August 26. The meeting, led by General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, aims to discuss the formation of a high-level mechanism to manage rescue, relief, and long-term reconstruction efforts.

Party spokesperson Jagadish Kharel stated that the RSP will support the government in search and rescue operations while focusing on sustainable solutions, including climate adaptation and reforms to the national disaster policy. The party has pledged to work with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority to ensure relief reaches affected districts such as Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan.

In a directive to party members, Kharel warned against “disaster tourism,” instructing supporters not to visit affected areas solely for photography or selfies, as such actions could burden security personnel and local residents. RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane will remain at the central command to coordinate response efforts rather than visiting the field, to avoid diverting resources from active rescue operations.
