Rastriya Swatantra Party initiates election prep and MP monitoring

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has launched several internal and electoral initiatives in Nepal. To improve parliamentary accountability, the party has introduced a Google Form to monitor lawmakers' attendance and activities. MPs must now document reasons for absences, late arrivals, or leaving meetings midway, providing evidence such as medical details or travel schedules.

On the electoral front, RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane has initiated preparations for upcoming local elections, which are expected in approximately nine months. The party has launched a ‘Rural Municipality Candidate Club’ to begin the application process for local representatives. Lamichhane noted that long-standing party members who have been active since the party's formation will have an advantage in receiving election tickets, though the party remains open to ‘lateral entry’ for exceptionally capable new candidates.

In the House of Representatives, RSP lawmaker Ranju Darshana has called for the effective implementation of the national health insurance scheme to alleviate citizen distress. She also raised concerns regarding a proposed waste processing center near a maternity hospital in Kathmandu and urged the government to address grievances from citizens who pledged gold for loans at the Nepal Rastra Bank.
