Ratchaburi land and resource issues addressed by parliamentary committee
Kulwalee Noppamornboddee, Chairperson of the House of Representatives Committee on Land, Natural Resources and Environment, led a delegation to Ratchaburi Province to address integrated issues regarding land use, natural resources, and environmental management.
During meetings with provincial authorities and local stakeholders, the committee discussed several critical matters, including the status of forest and national park areas, land expropriation compensation complaints, and the progress of environmental remediation at the Wax Garbage Recycle Center Co., Ltd. site. Kulwalee emphasized that resolving long-standing issues regarding livelihoods, housing, and state land boundaries requires collaborative efforts between policymakers, local agencies, and citizens.
The delegation also focused on promoting sustainable nature-based tourism. This included exploring ways to allow local authorities to develop Khao Bin Cave, which is currently within a national reserved forest, by coordinating with the Royal Forest Department. Additionally, the committee visited the Wildlife Rescue Center 3 (Khao Prathap Chang) to discuss upgrading the facility into a mini-zoo to boost local tourism.
