Rathmines bushfire contained by emergency services

Emergency services contained a series of bushfires in Rathmines on Sunday afternoon. The initial fire, which began around 12:45 pm, spread through scrubland near the Toronto golf course on Wangi Road and ignited three additional fires in the vicinity.

Rural Fire Service crews, assisted by NSW Fire and Rescue, managed to bring the fireground—covering approximately 200 square metres across two areas—under control by 2:00 pm. About 14 firefighters responded to the incident. While crews remained on site to extinguish embers and secure the area, authorities confirmed that traffic was not affected by the blaze.
