Germany traffic disruptions: A7 motorway closure and regional roadworks

Various road closures and construction projects are impacting traffic across Germany.

A major 55-hour full closure of the A7 motorway heading south is scheduled from Friday night to Monday morning near Hamburg. This closure, which includes the Elbtunnel, is necessary for the main inspection of the Hochstraße Elbmarsch. Drivers are advised to use detours via the B205, A21, and A1.

Other regional disruptions include:

• Braunschweig: Extensive road closures in the Magniviertel for the Magnifest weekend. • Ratingen: Local officials are demanding solutions for school traffic due to delays in B1 construction. • Trier: Traffic congestion and safety concerns in Trier-West following the closure of Hornstraße for asphalt work. • Munich: Construction has begun on new tree locations in Sendlinger Straße to improve urban cooling.

Additionally, while the peak summer travel season has subsided, high traffic volumes and approximately 1,000 active construction sites continue to pose a risk of delays on major motorways, particularly in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
