Ratinho faces investigation for alleged homophobia

Brazilian TV presenter Ratinho is facing a legal investigation by the Public Ministry of São Paulo following allegations of homophobia. The complaint, filed by activist Agripino Magalhães Júnior, stems from a comment made on his SBT program regarding singer Tiago Piquilo, where Ratinho used a derogatory term to describe the artist's new platinum blonde hair.

In response, Ratinho defended himself on air, stating that the remark was intended as a joke and that he has maintained respect throughout his 28-year career. The Civil Police have opened an inquiry to investigate the claims. The controversy has drawn mixed reactions: actor Carmo Dalla Vecchia criticized the presenter for normalizing offensive humor, while sports narrator Galvão Bueno publicly supported Ratinho, offering to act as a character witness.

Tiago Piquilo, the singer involved, released a video stating he was not offended and emphasized his long-standing friendship with the presenter, asking for more lightness regarding the situation. Despite this, the investigation continues to examine whether the comments constitute discriminatory practices under Brazilian law.
