Ratko Borovnica, former head of Football Association of Vojvodina, dies at 82

Ratko Borovnica, a prominent sports official and former president of the Football Association of Vojvodina, has passed away at the age of 82.

Borovnica had a long and influential career in Serbian and Vojvodinian football. He began his journey in his hometown of Nakovo, a village known for its deep footballing traditions, and later served as the president of OFK Kikinda. His influence expanded to the regional and national levels, most notably through his leadership at the Football Association of Vojvodina, where he contributed to competition systems, referee organization, and youth development.

One of the highlights of his career included serving as the head of the Yugoslav national team delegation during a match against Austria in Vienna shortly before the breakup of the SFRY.
