The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals has rejected a request by Ratko Mladić for conditional early release on humanitarian grounds. His son, Darko Mladić, alleged that medical care in the detention unit has deteriorated, claiming that staff have stopped monitoring blood pressure and EKG readings and discontinued diabetes medication. Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, described the denial as inhumane, arguing that Mladić deserves adequate medical care due to his worsening health condition.

While some judges supported the release based on humanitarian grounds, the majority of the Mechanism's leadership voted to deny the request.
