Ratko Mladić's health worsens as ICC rejects release to Serbia

Convicted Bosnian war criminal Ratko Mladić, serving a life sentence at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, is reported to be in a critical health condition. According to his son Darko Mladić, the former commander can no longer speak and doctors estimate only a small chance of surviving the year. The family and his legal team have repeatedly asked the court to allow a temporary transfer to Serbia for medical treatment. ICC President Graciela Gatti Santana denied the request, stating that while Mladić is in the final stage of life, that alone does not justify release.
