Ratlam woman arrested for multi-crore narcotics officer impersonation scam
Police in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, have arrested a woman, identified as Sapna Thakur, for allegedly defrauding a businessman of several crores by impersonating a Narcotics Department Inspector (TI). The suspect reportedly posed as an ‘encounter specialist’ to intimidate the victim, threatening him with legal action and narcotics-related cases to extort money.
The fraud involved a wide range of assets and cash. According to reports, the woman promised to help the victim recover funds from a previous court case. Under the guise of seizing property and facilitating legal processes, she allegedly extorted approximately 70 lakh rupees in cash. She further deceived the victim’s relatives and transferred large sums via RTGS.
In addition to cash, the suspect reportedly seized real estate assets, including a plot in Tulsi Vihar Colony and a house in Tejanagar, through fraudulent registration and coerced video recordings. The scam also included the theft of approximately 105 grams of gold jewelry intended for the victim’s daughter’s wedding.
