Ratna Sari Dewi Soekarno fined by Tokyo court for assault

The Tokyo District Court has fined Ratna Sari Dewi Soekarno, the widow of Indonesia's first president Sukarno, 200,000 yen (approximately 22.5 million rupiah) for assaulting her former manager and assistant.

Judge Toshikazu Ishida ruled that the 86-year-old television personality committed dangerous acts, including throwing a champagne glass at a victim in a Shibuya restaurant in February 2025. The court also found her guilty of hitting and kicking her manager at an animal hospital in October 2025. While Dewi initially denied the allegations, video evidence provided by the former manager supported the prosecution's claims. During the trial, Dewi expressed regret for her actions.
