Raubonys hosts 11th international wool and heritage festival

The 11th international Vilnonės dienos festival took place on August 29–30 in Raubonys, located in the Pasvalys district of northern Lithuania. Set against the backdrop of a historic water mill and former wool-carding and spinning facility, the event celebrates wool, traditional crafts, music, and regional heritage.

Since its inception in 2015, the festival has grown alongside the revival of the local water mill and its industrial history. The program integrates the landscape of the Tatula River valley with architecture and craftsmanship. Activities included folklore, concerts, exhibitions, theater, and a film program known as ‘Mill Cinema.’

In addition to cultural performances, the festival featured a craft market for artisans and hands-on educational opportunities. One notable event was a slipper-felting championship, where participants practiced the traditional technique by creating slippers from loose wool.
