Raudonė Castle hosts St. Hubert's Day hunting celebrations
On October 10, the hunting community gathered at Raudonė Castle in the Jurbarkas district to celebrate St. Hubert's Day, the patron saint of hunters. The event focused on preserving traditions and emphasizing the responsibility of humans toward nature and environmental protection.
The ceremony was led by Father Evaldas Vitulskis, the recently appointed first chaplain of the Lithuanian Hunters and Fishers Association. During the service, flags for various hunting clubs and groups were consecrated, symbolizing community unity and a commitment to hunting traditions.
The celebration also featured a cultural program highlighting hunting horn music. Performances were provided by the Aukštaitija hunting horn ensemble ‘Medeina’, led by Ligita Bilevičienė, and the ‘Kurtinys’ ensemble from Samogitia. The musical program included contributions from the renowned Lithuanian composer and conductor Kazys Daugėla, showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of hunting music in Europe.
