Raul Gutierrez Jr. Sentenced for FBI Rifle Theft During Minnesota Metro Surge
33‑year‑old Raul Gutierrez Jr. of Inver Grove Heights was sentenced to 54 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to felon‑in‑possession of a firearm. The charge stems from a break‑in of an FBI vehicle during the federal immigration “Operation Metro Surge” in Minneapolis, where he and accomplice Alexio Miranda stole a cargo safe, removed a bag containing a semiautomatic rifle and a silencer, and transferred the equipment to Gutierrez’s vehicle.
Gutierrez was already prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior felony burglary and domestic‑assault convictions. Miranda later pleaded guilty to possessing a stolen firearm and awaits sentencing. The case was announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota.
