Ravenna highway police rescue truck driver after medical emergency

Highway police officers from Ravenna rescued a 53-year-old truck driver who suffered a medical emergency while driving on the A14 motorway near Imola. The incident occurred on a Thursday morning when the heavy vehicle veered off the road and became precariously lodged between the emergency lane and the embankment.

Upon arrival, officers found the driver unconscious and still restrained by his seatbelt. With the assistance of two motorists who had stopped to help, the police extracted the man and moved him to a safe area on the shoulder of the road. Finding that the driver had stopped breathing, the officers immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and continued chest compressions until medical personnel arrived.

Due to the severity of his condition, the driver was airlifted to the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, where he remains in reserved condition. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the driver's sudden loss of consciousness.
