Ravenna seeks volunteers for marsh restoration project

The Municipality of Ravenna has launched a public call to select ten volunteers to serve as ‘Marsh Ambassadors’ as part of the European Life Fresh project. The initiative aims to restore and value freshwater eutrophic swamp habitats in the southern Po Delta region.

The selected volunteers, five from the Ravenna area and five from Argenta, will support communication, scientific dissemination, and civic monitoring. The program includes initial training and co-design sessions to develop initiatives for students, youth, and the general public. The goal is to strengthen the connection between local communities and these ecologically, historically, and culturally significant habitats.

Coordinated by the Po Delta Park Management Body, the Life Fresh project involves the Municipality of Argenta, the Renana Reclamation Consortium, and the University of Ferrara. Beyond environmental restoration, the project seeks to recover traditional knowledge related to marsh herbs, navigation, hunting, and fishing.
