Ravensburg police to increase school route patrols

The Ravensburg Police Headquarters has announced increased patrols on school routes in the districts of Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, and Bodenseekreis to coincide with the start of the school year. Police President Gigliotti noted that the daily commute presents a significant challenge for young students, particularly beginners, who may perceive dangers differently or react spontaneously in unpredictable situations.

Officers will focus on monitoring vehicle speeds near schools, observing behavior at bus stops and pedestrian crossings, and ensuring children are properly secured in cars. Authorities are also targeting ‘parent taxis’—drivers who create hazardous conditions by stopping or turning inconsiderately in front of school buildings.

In addition to monitoring motorists, police will observe students using bicycles, e-scooters, or walking, with a specific emphasis on distractions caused by smartphones. The police recommend that parents practice school routes with their children and use reflective clothing and bright colors as the darker season approaches.
