Codorníu reports 14 million euro profit amid ongoing sale negotiations
Codorníu has reported a significant financial turnaround, moving from an 11 million euro loss in the previous period to a net profit of 14 million euros for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The company, which is 59% focused on cava and 41% on wine, saw net sales reach 197 million euros, representing a 1% increase. EBITDA rose to 46 million euros, doubling its value from six years ago.
Despite these record results, the company remains in a state of transition as its majority shareholder, the US-based investment fund Carlyle, continues to seek a buyer for its 55% stake. CEO Sergio Fuster noted that while the company is becoming more attractive due to improved management, achieving the 400 million euro valuation set by Carlyle in 2018 remains a challenge. Potential changes could also involve the Raventós family, who hold a 20% minority stake.
Looking forward, Codorníu is considering strategic shifts, including potential acquisitions to strengthen its portfolio and divestments of non-core assets. Fuster indicated that the company is looking for synergies within Spain, specifically in regions where they lack a presence, such as Galicia or Rueda, while potentially divesting from businesses located outside of the country.
