Ravi Tamta develops electric flying car prototype in Uttarakhand

Ravi Tamta, a Bachelor of Arts graduate from Kaflikhan village in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, has developed a prototype for an electric flying vehicle named HAPIDA SKYNeX. Working through his company, Hapida Sky Private Limited, Tamta designed the single-seater vehicle to address transportation challenges in hilly regions, where winding roads and long distances can hinder travel and emergency medical access.

Developed using information gathered online and years of experimentation, the vehicle utilizes a Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) concept, allowing it to operate without a runway. The prototype is battery-powered and features multiple electric motors and propellers.

Tamta, whose father is a mechanic, began working on this project in 2015. His previous technical projects include smart canes for the visually impaired, mobile-charging footwear, and specialized tools for forest departments. The flying vehicle currently requires further technical testing and regulatory approvals before it can be used commercially.
