Ravidass Mehrotra accuses BJP of using religious issues to distract from economic concerns

Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidass Mehrotra has accused the BJP government of using religious and political issues to distract the public from core concerns such as inflation, unemployment, corruption, and healthcare. Mehrotra specifically cited the demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur as a tactic to divert attention from these systemic problems.

Addressing recent unrest, Mehrotra criticized the police action against students protesting alleged paper leaks at Jantar Mantar and welcomed the Supreme Court's observations regarding the incident. He also commented on the arrest of Swatantra Bhardwaj, asserting that students and the opposition have a democratic right to peaceful protest.

Furthermore, the legislator raised concerns regarding voter list integrity, alleging that approximately 28.9 million names have been removed from voter lists in Uttar Pradesh, specifically impacting the PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) demographic.
