Ravie Dubey defends Ranbir Kapoor's casting in Ramayana

Actor Ravie Dubey has defended Ranbir Kapoor against public criticism regarding his casting as Lord Rama in the upcoming mythological epic, ‘Ramayana’. While some viewers have questioned Kapoor’s suitability for the revered role following the film’s first glimpse, Dubey, who portrays Lakshman, praised Kapoor’s work ethic and character.

In an interview with Variety, Dubey described Kapoor as ‘simply the best we have’ and a ‘superstar of epic proportions.’ He highlighted Kapoor’s sincerity, intensity, and grounded nature on set, noting that his firsthand experience with the actor’s preparation has been inspiring.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part adaptation of Valmiki’s epic features an ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Kajal Aggarwal. Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, the film reportedly has a budget of Rs 4,000 crore and features a score by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman. ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ is scheduled for release during Diwali 2026.
