Ravindra Jadeja spearheads India's Test campaign in Sri Lanka

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja returns to the Indian side for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka after missing the one‑off Test versus Afghanistan. In seven Tests against the Lankan side he has amassed 326 runs at 65.20, including a 175* innings, and taken 33 wickets at 23.72, highlighting his long‑standing success on spin‑friendly pitches.

India have named a 15‑man squad for the tour, with Shubman Gill as captain and Jadeja among the seam‑spin options. In the three‑day warm‑up match at Colombo’s Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Jadeja claimed his first wicket, dismissing Pasindu Sooriyabandara for 35. The match saw Sri Lanka’s opening pair post a 110‑run stand before the hosts were 171/2 at the fall of Jadeja’s wicket. The series will follow with Tests that could see Jadeja chase his 400th Test wicket, a milestone that would place him among only five Indians to do so.
