Ravno Podolje site becomes illegal landfill in Gorski Kotar

An abandoned structure at Ravno Podolje, located at 928 meters above sea level on the historic Lujzinska road, has become a massive illegal landfill. The site, situated near the entrance to Mrzla Vodica in the Gorski Kotar region, is filled with tons of mixed municipal and bulky waste.

Despite the location's status as a scenic point for hikers and cyclists, the waste is spilling from the windows and doors of a devastated house located near a 19th-century stone milestone. The dumping site sits at a boundary between the municipalities of Lokava, Jelenja, and Čavala. Local residents have reportedly been warning authorities for months, but the site remains unaddressed.
