Rawalpindi: Christian woman shot dead by neighbor

A 21-year-old Christian woman, Saba Mehboob, was fatally shot in her home in the Dhoke Ratta area of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on September 3. Her family alleges that her neighbor, Adnan Butt, entered the residence, ordered her male relatives to leave at gunpoint, and killed her after she had repeatedly rejected his advances.

Following the shooting, the suspect allegedly abducted Mehboob’s 16-year-old stepbrother, Anoosh, taking him to a different location where he was reportedly threatened with death and pressured to confess to the murder. The teenager was released the following day after family members reportedly agreed not to file a police complaint.

While a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Butt, he has obtained pre-arrest bail from the court. Although Butt claimed to have no criminal history, reports indicate previous records involving drugs, illegal weapons, theft, and robbery.
