Rawalpindi security incident leaves PTI-affiliated man dead

An armed man identified as Muhammad Hussain was shot dead by law enforcement officials on Mall Road in Rawalpindi after allegedly opening fire on security personnel. Hussain, a resident of Khyber district, was identified by officials and security sources as an active member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

Authorities reported recovering a PTI flag, weapons, ammunition, and various documents from the deceased. One security official was reportedly injured during the exchange. Following the incident, security was tightened in the Rawalpindi cantonment area.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar condemned the incident, accusing the PTI of adopting a ‘politics of violence’ and claiming the party’s protests often involve armed individuals. Tarar alleged that the party seeks to spread anarchy and noted that the incident occurred in broad daylight, asserting that the PTI does not believe in peaceful protest.
