Ray-Ban heir Leonardo Del Vecchio criticizes EssilorLuxottica leadership

Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, the 31-year-old heir to the Ray-Ban legacy, has made controversial personal revelations during an interview with Italian rapper Fedez. Del Vecchio, whose net worth is estimated at $5 billion, admitted to struggling with drug addiction, specifically mentioning the use of benzodiazepines to fill emotional voids following his father's death in 2022.

Beyond personal struggles, Del Vecchio used the platform to criticize the leadership of EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of brands including Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Persol. He specifically targeted CEO Francesco Milleri, stating that the company has lacked the proper vision since his father's passing. This criticism comes amid a broader inheritance dispute; Del Vecchio has reportedly sought to increase his control over the company by attempting to buy out siblings for approximately $11.2 billion.

Del Vecchio recently stepped down from his roles as president of Ray-Ban and chief strategy officer of EssilorLuxottica to pursue new entrepreneurial projects.
