Raymond Lei, Hong Kong actor known as ‘Ghost King’, dies at 62
Hong Kong veteran actor and host Raymond Lei, widely known as the ‘Ghost King’ for his roles in the ‘Troublesome Night’ film series, passed away on September 7 at the age of 62 due to gastric cancer.
His death has prompted widespread mourning within the Hong Kong entertainment and music industries. Members of the legendary rock band Beyond, including Wong Ka Keung and Yip Sai Wing, expressed their profound grief on social media. Lei shared a deep, decades-long bond with the late Beyond frontman Wong Ka Kui, dating back to 1989. Lei was notably one of the eight individuals who carried Wong Ka Kui’s coffin following his passing in 1993.
A funeral service was held in Guangzhou, attended by various industry colleagues including Ng Chi Hung. Lei had spent his later years living primarily in mainland China.
