Raymundo Gómez Flores, influential Mexican businessman, dies at 74

Raymundo Gómez Flores, a prominent Mexican businessman and former senator from Jalisco, passed away on September 2 at the age of 74. His death was confirmed by Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus and his daughter, Altagracia Gómez Sierra.

Gómez Flores had a career spanning over five decades across several strategic sectors, including agro-industry, automotive, real estate, and transport. He was a founder of Grupo Minsa, a major producer of corn flour, and held a majority stake in DINA, a manufacturer of heavy vehicles and buses. He also founded Grupo Inmobiliario G (GIG) and was a lifelong president of the Promotora Empresarial de Occidente.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her condolences to Altagracia Gómez Sierra, who serves as a business advisor to the presidency and coordinates the Regional Economic Development and Relocation Advisory Council. Sheinbaum noted Gómez Sierra’s importance in Mexico’s commercial negotiations with the United States.
