Rayo Vallecano reports stadium vandalism and VIP box assault

Rayo Vallecano's return to the Estadio de Vallecas for the Trofeo de Vallecas against Cagliari was marred by significant unrest and vandalism. The club reported that the presidential box was vandalized in the early hours of Saturday, with slashed upholstery and graffiti targeting club president Raúl Martín Presa.

During the match, a group of hooded individuals, whom the club identified as members of the ultra group Bukaneros, attempted to storm the directors' box. Security was required to protect dignitaries and guests inside the VIP area. The club has described these events as an ‘assault’ and a campaign of ‘harassment, extortion and intimidation’ against its leadership.

The incidents occur amid ongoing tensions between Rayo Vallecano and the Community of Madrid regarding the stadium's concession and maintenance requirements. The club has accused regional authorities of complicity in creating a hostile environment and has announced plans to file a criminal complaint using security camera footage to identify those responsible.
