Raytheon awarded $24.4 billion US Navy contract for SM-6 missiles

The US Navy has awarded Raytheon, an RTX business, a multiyear contract valued at up to $24.4 billion to accelerate the production of Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) interceptors. The five-year agreement, which includes two additional option years, is intended to bolster defense reserves and increase manufacturing throughput.

This procurement is part of a broader Pentagon initiative to replenish munitions stockpiles that have been depleted following military engagements with Iran. The SM-6 is a versatile, multi-mission weapon used for anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare, and ballistic missile defense.

In addition to the SM-6 deal, Raytheon has secured a multiyear contract worth up to $20.7 billion for the production of AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles. This agreement aims to nearly double the production output of AMRAAM missiles in 2025 compared to 2024. To meet these demands, Raytheon is investing in its facilities, workforce, and automation to expand capacity and secure critical supply chains.
