Raytheon awarded $22.9B US Navy contract for Tomahawk missiles

The US Navy has awarded a $22.9 billion contract to Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, to significantly accelerate the production of Tomahawk cruise missiles. The agreement, which spans up to seven years, aims to increase annual production from approximately 60 missiles to more than 1,000.

This massive investment is part of the Department of War’s ‘Arsenal of Freedom’ program, intended to replenish US munitions stocks that have been depleted by large-scale arms transfers to allies and ongoing military operations in the Middle East, including conflicts involving Iran. Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao described the contract as a landmark move to ensure US forces maintain lethal firepower and deterrence capabilities.

RTX has already begun scaling operations, reporting that Tomahawk deliveries in the first half of 2026 were triple those of the same period in 2025. The contract is expected to provide industrial stability, allowing Raytheon to expand its workforce, invest in new facilities, and strengthen a supply chain involving hundreds of small and medium-sized American businesses.
