Raytheon boosts Coyote counter‑drone missile production and demos next‑gen short‑range interceptor for U.S. Army

Raytheon is expanding output of its Coyote counter‑UAS missile, scaling production to roughly 300 missiles per month after a three‑fold increase last year. The system, already used in Operation Epic Fury against Iran with more than 600 combat intercepts, includes Block 2 kinetic warheads and Block 3NK reusable microwave modules to defeat drone swarms.

The company also completed a successful technology demo of the Next Generation Short Range Interceptor (NGSRI), a future replacement for the Stinger missile. The demo showed the interceptor’s extended range, precision tracking and lethal impact using a soldier‑portable Command Launch Assembly, advanced optics and a high‑energy solid‑rocket motor supplied by Northrop Grumman. Both programs aim to strengthen layered air‑defense capabilities for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
