Razaullah shines on Test debut in Pakistan’s fight against England
Pakistan debutant Razaullah delivered a standout all-round performance during the third Test against England at Edgbaston. As a 21-year-old fast bowler, he claimed four wickets in England’s first innings, including the dismissal of captain Joe Root. While his bowling was noted for its high pace, reaching nearly 145 km/h, he also conceded 148 runs in 23 overs.
In Pakistan’s second innings, Razaullah provided a crucial counter-attack while batting at number nine. He scored 81 runs from just 63 balls, hitting nine sixes and four boundaries. This performance included a record-equalling feat for the most sixes on a Test debut and helped Pakistan reach a total of 449 runs. His innings featured a 121-run ninth-wicket partnership with Mohammad Abbas, which helped set England a target of 130 runs.
Despite Razaullah’s heroics, England secured an 8-wicket victory to complete a 3-0 series sweep. Following the loss, Pakistan captain Babar Azam stated that the team must analyze their mistakes and reassess their playing eleven to remain competitive in the World Test Championship.
