Razer acquires StreamElements to expand creator ecosystem
Razer announced the acquisition of the assets of StreamElements, the cloud‑based livestreaming platform used by millions of creators on Twitch, YouTube, Kick and other services. The deal is an asset purchase rather than a full company takeover; the purchase price was not disclosed but is reported to be well below the $111 million the Israeli‑origin platform raised from investors such as SoftBank. StreamElements will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, keeping its brand, development team, product roadmap and user accounts unchanged. Existing tools—including overlays, alerts, chatbots, tipping pages and sponsorship management—will remain functional, and no migration of logins is required. Razer will update the platform’s privacy policy effective 1 August and has committed to honour outstanding creator payments, which are being processed by the seller Live Momentum Ltd. The platform’s proprietary payment system, SEPay, will be phased out, with creators required to withdraw balances by 31 December 2026 and shift to PayPal thereafter. Razer frames the acquisition as a strategic move to broaden its content‑creator ecosystem and integrate StreamElements’ services with its hardware and software offerings.
